Escanaba Moonlighters

2023 Draft Complete

Jimmy The Brain's Draft Grades

Dalmatians

Best – Diontae Johnson (3rd) - He’s bound to score more touchdowns this year. His QB should throw more this year, and the team has improved the OL.

Worst – Michael Thomas (6th) - Health is obviously a huge question mark. There were several other young WRs with potential still on the board here, who also are good options as potential draft value keepers.

Overall Grade – I like your team, that is veteran heavy at WR. Both DK and Diontae seem likely to score more TDs this year, after bad luck last year. Fields was great (in fantasy) for the 2nd half of last year. If he ups his passing game he could easily be a top 3 fantasy QB. (B+)

Moonlighters

Best – Alvin Kamara (3rd) - Yea he’s suspended for the first three games, but he should be a good player for you once he comes back.

Worst – Antonio Gibson (5th) - It seems like he is the RB2 in Washington. His receiving upside isn’t as great in our non-PPR league. I would’ve probably gone WR here instead of a 4th RB.

Overall Grade – You might need to beef up security in Escanaba, because you have a few rule breakers on your squad. You should be solid at RB, but you really need Watson to bounce back this year. Johnston and Bateman have potential but they both appear to be WR3s on their teams. I’m certainly not sleeping on the Moonlighters, but your lack of draft capital made things difficult. (C+)

Peeters

Best – J.K. Dobbins (3rd) - 2nd year after the ACL injury should be good news. The Ravens obviously will have a new offense, but I think it’s likely they will still run often. Good floor here, with some high upside as well.

Worst – Rachaad White (2nd) - Probably the pick you had to make with 4 WRs on board. Tampa didn’t run well last year, and I’m not exactly high on their offense this year. He could work out, but I would’ve probably gone RB in round 1.

Overall Grade – If Watson and London break out like many are speculating, your top 4 WRs would be formidable. Not to mention Darren Waller could be the Giants number 1 receiving option. Just need him to stay healthy. I don’t know if you have a lead RB, but I think you have the guys to make it work. (B+)

Lumberjacks

Best – Zay Flowers (5th) - I really like Flowers, and I believe I was going to take him with the next pick. This seems like a player who can be good right away as a rookie, and have high long-term potential.

Worst – Keenan Allen (3rd) - It just seems like he is always hurt. If he is available this pick should work out, but there are probably safer WRs at this point.

Overall Grade – Dalvin Cook signing with the Jets obviously changed things for you. Breece Hall bouncing back from his injury and playing like he did last year would be huge. At this point I’m not sure you have an elite RB or WR, but you have plenty of young guys who could develop into that. (B-)

Dingoes

Best – Tyler Lockett (4th) - Very consistent WR over the years. A little boom or bust, but that should work as a flex or WR4.

Worst – Kyle Pitts (3rd) - He may be a freak athlete and top 10 pick, but the results haven’t been great for the first 2 years. Plus, he’s on a team that is gonna run a ton, and has a questionable QB situation. This was definitely a panic pick after all the other top TEs went.

Overall Grade –FantasyPros seems to like this draft. I think there is some concern at WR with Kupp ’s injury. I think this is a team that can definitely compete in the Red Conference. If Pitts and Swift can start playing up to their potential/draft value, I could have something here. (A-)

Dogs

Best – T.J. Hockenson (3rd) - Got huge volume after he was traded to Minnesota. With a full offseason and a new contact he could be looking like a top 3 TE.

Worst – Marquise Brown (5th) - He struggled last year after Kyler got hurt, and who knows when Kyler will be back. The team seems to be tanking, and has God knows who playing QB.

Overall Grade – You had three good keeper RBs, but not much else at the position for now. I really like both Lawrence and Hockenson . You got a few WRs with questionable QB situations, but Smith and Williams are both solid. (B)

Cows

Best – Tee Higgins (1st) - Because of how the first round fell, you were able to get a very consistent WR, on a high octane offense.

Worst - De'Von Achane (7th) - There’s certainly some upside here but with your lack of picks, I think there are better flex options at this point. Could have some nice future value.

Overall Grade – Another team with not a lot of early picks. I’m not sure of your strategy but you seemed to go high upside with a lot of picks. If everything falls right this could a dangerous team. We also know the Cows will be active on the waiver wire and trade fronts. You did roll 8 2’s so maybe this is your lucky year. (C+)

Suds

Best – Rashee Rice (11th) - A 2nd round receiver on a very good offense. You didn’t have a ton of draft capital so a late pick like this can really pay off.

Worst – Jayden Reed (7th) - Similar to the pick above, but 4 rounds earlier with an unknown QB. certainly seems like a bit of a homer pick. I will say it’s likely someone else could have made this pick soon.

Overall Grade – Can Rodgers and Adams lead the Suds to the playoffs like they did for so many years in Green Bay? I can’t imagine Jamaal will repeat what he did last year, but he should have at least the first 3 weeks to dominate touches in NO. Javonte Williams bouncing back will be big for this teams success. (C)

Mud Ducks

Best – Jameson Williams (7th) - Seems like a player who will be valuable later in the season. Other than St. Brown the Lions don’t have a ton of great options.

Worst – Taysom Hill (8th) - You very clearly reached on Jordan Addison , and right now Leonard Fournette is still not on an NFL team. But you took Taysom Hill as the 10th TE off the board, and he’s not even a starter on his team. You took him 5 rounds higher than the Saint’s starting TE. Sure, he gets the occasional trick play but is that worth all the weeks he will score zero? Probably shouldn’t have been drafted at all, and in most ESPN leagues (6.1% ownership) he’s not.

Overall Grade - Taylor being out for at least 4 weeks hurts, because Akers, Jones , and Taylor is a strong RB 1-3. Ridley and Addison as your top 2 WRs is a little questionable. Ridley has certainly looked good in preseason, and I like Addison , just not in this position/draft pick. I appreciate that you have guys you like, but often reach to take them. Do Mike Evans and Adam Thielen still have enough gas left in the tank? Those two playing well would be a big help. (C-)

Sharks

Best – Christian Kirk (6th) - Had a great year last year, and has a young QB likely to improve. All the hype is going to Ridley , but I think Kirk can be a solid WR3 with potential to do more.

Worst – Elijah Moore (7th) - This guy has been hyped up ever since he was drafted, and thus far hasn’t done much. Maybe the Browns will use him more. Though he’s not a starter for you, so probably worth the gamble.

Overall Grade – I disagree with FantasyPros, this is probably the best team right now. You had 3 great keepers to start with, and rounded out your starting lineup well. WR depth may be a question, but I’m sure you can fix that in free agency. (A)

Herd

Best – Josh Jacobs (1st) - I think he may have fallen a bit because of his contract situation (if I remember correctly the news dropped Saturday morning). Pretty good RB1 to be able to grab at the end of round 1.

Worst – Isiah Pacheco (2nd) - I guess I just don’t trust KC running backs.

Overall Grade – Your top 2 WRs should be very productive. Pickens makes the highlight reel catches, but it would be nice to see him become more consistent. Sutton could have a big year if Wilson plays better. Especially with Jeudy injured for now, as there isn’t a ton of WR depth on the Broncos. I like Burks’ potential as well. RB is a little thin, but Zeke could be good if he gets the goal line carries. (B-)

Hippos

Best – Brandin Cooks (6th) - Aside from last year when he was on a bad Texans team (and my fantasy team) Cooks has been pretty consistently good.

Worst – A.J. Dillon (3rd) - A really good RB2 for the Packers, but less so of an RB2 for your fantasy team. Unless the split between Dillon and Jones moves more to 50/50, I think you reached a bit here.

Overall Grade – I really like your top 3 WRs. Always gotta sneak in a couple Packers, but I think there is some potential for Musgrave . Knox is a decent option as a backup there. You could really use another starting RB (C+)
